Although she is my Mum, she is also my best friend. I tell her all my secrets. She is also a good listener an advisor, always ask her for advices whenever I have tough decisions to make.
Mum cooks various authentic Chinese food, such as fried rice, roast port and black pepper beef. The best food that my mum cooks is definitely dumplings, she learned the recipe from my grandma. She is interested in baking at the moment. She made a sponge cake last weekend, it was great.
The main reason I think my mum is a great cook is because she cooks with love and passion. The food she cooks not only taste good, but also healthy. She considers food nutrition when she cooks so we can enjoy the good food and have health benefits. The fresh ingredients she uses is another reason that makes her an amazing cook. I’m going to describe a person I know who dresses well which is Rachel. I think she dresses well because she has a great sense in fashion and she’s very stylish.
Rachel is lovely girl in her 20’s. She has a pair of small eyes filled with passion and she has beautiful smile on her face. She’s an outgoing girl and she has a great sense of humour.
Rachel is a full time students and she works for a cafe as a part-time waitress. She is also my personal fashion advisor. I really enjoy shopping with her.
She normally wears simple and casual cloths, such as one piece dress, T-shirt and jeans. Her favorite outfit is a white shit with a pair of blue jeans which make her look neat and fashionable.
The main reason I think she dresses well is because I’ve been to many different occasions with her such as formal meetings and weekend parties. She always wears appropriate clothes for different occasions. Most importantly, Rachel doesn’t pursue those famous brands, instead she know what suit her the best.Rachel is definitely a fashionable girl.

Yao Ming is definitely one of China’s best-known athletes, who played for Huston Rocket of the NBA for 9 seasons. Yao is a role model for many young people not only because he is one of the most successful Asian background players in NBA, but also because he participated in many charity events in helping people and spreading information on protecting animals.
It’s hard not noticing him when he is around as he is 2.29m tall. He was born in Shanghai and started playing for basketball club as a teenager. He was selected by the Huston Rocket in the 2002 and became the first Chinese player in NBA, and had great statistics. Consequently, he was on headlines of presses all the time, and that’s how I know this great player and become interested in basketball.
After 9 years in NBA at age 30, Yao decided to retire because of injuries on his foot. After his retirement, he put lots of effort on helping people in needs and established his own foundation to build schools in China after 2008 earthquakes. One of the projects he is doing currently impressed me a lot. He is filming a documentary in Kenya and South African to help stop consumptions of ivory and rhino horn in Asia. I’ve seen some photos he took in Africa that elephants were killed and the ivory have been cut off from the bodies. I was shocked how much damages that human being have done to those lovely animals. I hope his documentary can have great effect and making people protecting instead of killing animals.
Yao Ming is definitely one of the most respectable person in my country, because of his great sports achievement and his determination on helping people and animals.

I’m going to describe a person I disliked but I had to be friendly to which was a regular customer of xxx.
When I was in uni, I worked for xxx for x years. We had a regular customer who I didn’t know her name. She came to the restaurant at least once a week. She was a very good looking lady in her 40’s with blond hair and she dressed very fashionable.
The reason I didn’t like her was because she was arrogant, and never said hello or thank you to any of us who worked in the restaurant. She always came to the restaurant by herself, and instead of waiting to be seated, she walked straight into the restaurant and picked her own table, which I though was very rude and upset me a lot.
Personally, I didn’t like this lady, however, I tried to my best to be friendly to her as she was the customer and I served her as professional as possible. I greeted her every time when she walked into the restaurant even she said nothing, I wished I could remind her how to treat others respectfully.

I’m going to describe an unusual building which is the Sydney Opera House. It has a fantastic location, on the Sydney Harbour and close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It seems to be standing in the middle of the sea.There are some amazing cafe and restaurants around the Sydney Opera House.
When I was 18 I watched a documentary about the Sydney Opera House and I was attracted by it’s amazing design. I wished I could visit there one day. The Sydney Opera House looks like a seashell right in the middle of the sea, and that’s one of the main reasons that I think this building is really unusual.
Two years ago, I finally had the opportunity to visit this amazing building.I was really excited that I could finally see the building in person. During the visit I learned a lot of interesting information about it. The Sydney Opera House is one of the busiest performing arts centres in the world. And as one of the most popular visitor attractions in Australia, more then 7 million people visit the site each year. And it spent 16 years to accomplish this amazing building.
The Sydney Opera House is the most unusual building I’ve ever seen not only because it has an unique seashell design, but also because it’s an iconic building that represent Australia.

I’m going to describe a colourful place I went which was Brighton beach. Brighton beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Melbourne which is 30 minutes driving distance from the city. There are amazing cafe and restaurants near it.
I went there last summer with a group of friends. We wanted to go outdoors as we spent too much time indoors for work and study. And the temperature of that day was pretty hot, so we thought Brighton beach would be a great place to spend a hot day out.
We arrived at the beach at in the morning around 9.30. There were some people lying on the beach and getting tanned. We decided to walk along the beach and find a a good spot. After 10 minutes walking we found some beach boxes that were painted in different colours and pattens, It was such an amazing surprise, we loved them. My favourite beach box was the one painted in pink and yellow. We took lots of photos with those lovely beach boxes. In the afternoon, more and more people came to the beach, they all wore different colours of bikinis and shorts.
The main reason that I think Brighton beach is colourful is because of those amazing colourful beach boxes, and some of patterns on them are really creative and beautiful. The second reason was because the weather was very nice on day. It was a sunny day, the sky and ocean was blue, the beach was white. It was such an amazing view.

I’m going to describe a garden that I visited which is Royal Botanic Garden. I definitely enjoy visiting this place as it has great environment and atmosphere.
It’s located near the centre of Melbourne. It’s close to St kinda Road and South Yarra, only 10 minutes away from the city by tram. It’s one of the most beautiful gardens in Victoria.
The garden has collections of local and exotic plants from all over the world and an amazing range of wild life. I can always hear beautiful birds singing in the garden. And there are lovely people walking and exercising in the garden. Sometimes we can see young students having there excursion in there.
I visit this amazing garden quite often and I did many activities in there. Such as walking along the path, sitting in the cafe near the lake and catching up with friends, and having picnic and enjoying the warm sunshine. My favorite activity in this garden is watching movie, it has moonlight outdoor cinema in summer. That’s very different experience.
The main reason I really enjoy visiting this lovely garden is because it provides a great opportunity for get close to nature and it’s a place to spend leisure time. On top of that, the garden is educational that I can always learn some interesting facts of knowledge of different plants。

I’m going to describe a place that can be good for relaxing which is Rachel’s Cafe.It’s a great place for relaxing because it has great environment and the coffee they make is great.
It’s just besides to xxx shopping centre, 5 minutes walking distance from my home. Their customers are local residents and shoppers.
Rachel’s Cafe has simple and modern design, large space inside and big windows with natural light. There are light music played all the time. The lovely cafe has 8 tables and there are fresh flowers on the tables.
I go to this cafe at least once a week for catching up with friends or reading my favourite books. I normally sit on the table next to the window so I can enjoy the warm sunshine and look out from the window. I normally have a cup of latte and a slice of cheese cake. They are my favourite.
I definitely enjoy spending time in this cafe a lot. The main reason I think it’s a great place for relaxation is because it has lovely atmosphere. The cozy interior design and beautiful music are amazing. Most importantly, the customer service, coffee and food are great. I can always relax and have quality time in here.

I’m going to describe a movie which is 2012. It’s a disaster movie that released in 2011. It’s definitely a good movie that I would like to watch again.
The movie was released in 2011.I heard a lot good review about it from media after it first released. However, I had no desire to watch it since I was not very interested in those disaster movies. However, my friends were very excited about the movie and they convinced me to watch it with them. It’s a good movie in terms of visual and sound effects, the movie looked very real and made me feel I was actually part of the movie and went thought all the horrible things in it, and the world was gonna end very soon.
The movie is about the temperature of the Earth’s core rapidly increasing causes lots of disaster, millions of people die in earthquakes worldwide. International leaders begin a secret project to ensure humanity’s survival.
After we walked out from the cinema, I felt I enjoyed the movie a lot. The main reason is because the storyline of the movie is very interesting and the sound and visual effects were great. On top of the movies makes me start thinking the importance of protecting the environment and preventing the end of the world. 2012 is certainly a great movie.

I’m going to describe an educational TV program which is The Animal World. I really enjoy watching this program as I can always learn something new about wild animals.
The program was recommended by my friend Rachel who is a big animal lover. I also read good feedback and reviews about it from the internet. So I decided to watch it.
When I was in China, I watched it at home with my parents once a week on Friday night. It’s a great show for all ages. Since I came to Australia, I can watch it once for a while on youtube.
The program has series of wild animal documentary. For example, marine animals in deep ocean, Birds of southeast Asia and dangerous animals in Australia. My favorite one is the wild animals in Africa, it’s fascinating to me.
The main reason I really enjoy watching this show is because of it’s high standard production. the sound and visual effects are high qualities which make me feel that i’m observing those animals closely. And most importantly, I’m really interested in those animals and I can always learn interesting knowledge and facts from this programs.

I’m going to describe a memorable childhood song which is 5 cents. It’s a children‘s song and it has very simple lyric that easy for kids to understand and remember.
The song was about a kid found 5 cents on the street, instead of taking the money, the kid found a police officer and handed the money to the officer.
The first time I heard this song was when I was 5, The lady in the kinder garden sang the sing to us and I immediately fell in love with the song, because the melody of the song was very catchy and the lyric was very interesting for a 5 years old. The lady then repeated the song many times so that everyone could learn how to sing the song. And then she told us the importance of honesty and we should not take anything that not belong to us.
After I got home on that day, I sung the song to my parents and grandparents, and they enjoyed my performance a lot.
It’s definitely a great song for kids because of it’s catchy and easy to understand, that’s one of the reasons that I still remember the song very well. On top of that, the song is educational too. I love the song and I will teacher my kids of this song one day.

I’m going to describe a car that I would like to buy which is Mini Cooper.
Mini Cooper includes a number of different models produced by BMW since 2000. It’s a compact and very stylish car. The price of this car is about $ 35,000
The first time I saw this car was at my friend’s place, I took a drive and I immediately fell in love with this cute car. I wish I could buy one in red, because it’s my favourite colour. The exterior of this car is cute and modern, it looks like a match box. It has modern interior design as well，in addition there is plenty room in the front, reasonable support from the seats, it very comfortable. The safety rating of mini copper is quite high too.
The main reason that I wish to own this car is because it’s a fashionable and cute car. On top of that, the car size is perfect for me as I don’t have family in Australia, I don’t need a car with large room. And it’s definitely easy for parking too.
I’m currently studying and living near the uni, the public transport is convenient enough for me. However after I graduate and start working, a car will be essential as I will definitely travel around more. And with a job, I will be able to afford all the expense of owning a car.

The first time I knew this amazing sport was from a TV program when I was a teenager. In the program, I watched some young people tried the bungee jumping for their first times. Their reactions were so different, some of them were thrilled and some were scared. Also learned lots of interesting facts and history about this sport and I immediately fell in love with it. I wished I could try one day.
It’s definitely a very challenging sports because it not only requires the participants have good physical condition but also great courage. On top of that the sport challenges peoples limit of fear.
The main reason I think it’s an exciting sport is because doing bungee jumping is a very unique experience. It’s not a sport that people can play everyday. I’m going to describe an important job in my country which is the primary school teacher. The primary school teacher is such an important job because children are the key to our country’s future.

I’m going to describe a language I want to learn but I can’t now which is Japanese. Japanese is a minority language that only spoken in Japan. However, it’s a every popular language among young people in Asia, and sometimes the language is important for business purpose in Asia.
There are a couple of ways that I can use to learn this language. Firstly, I can attend Japanese courses to learn the basic pronunciation and grammar. And I have some Japanese friends who can help me to practise this language.
The main reason that I wish to learn this language is because I always want to travel to Japan, and I’m a big fan of Japanese comic books. On top of that I find Japanese culture is fascinating, it’s quite similar to ancient Chinese culture. If I can speak this language well, then I can have a better understanding of their culture.
Unfortunately, I can’t learn this language now, as learning English is my priority. I put all my time and effort on improving my English. I will definitely learn Japanese after I can speak English fluently.

I’m going to describe an electronic machine I want to buy which is Roomba. It’s such an amazing device that saves me lots of time.
Roomba is a smart vacuum that cleans automatically. It’s firstly released in 2002. Millions of units have been sold. The average price of it is $ 700.
The first time I knew this great machine was from a TV commercial 3 months ago. The commercial demonstrated how smart and efficient this machine is. I also heard lots of good reviews and feedback on the internet. I really want to have one.
This device has basic vacuuming function. On top of that, it has technology advanced features. For example, it’s wireless and it charges by itself. My favorite feature of this machine is that it has sensor to detect dirty spots.
The main reason I wish to have this amazing device is because it’s small and compact. It cleans areas that normal vacuums are hard to get to. Most importantly, I’m busy with my work. Roomba dose all the hard work for me, so I can do more enjoyable things during my free time.

I’m going to describe a photo I like in my home which was taken 2 years ago. It’s one of my favorite photos because it reminds the great trip I had with my parents.
It’s a 7 inch photo that I keep it in a silver frame. I put this photo in my bedroom, on my bedside table so I can see it before I go to sleep everyday.
It’s taken during my parents’ visit to Melbourne. That’s their first oversea trip. My parents enjoy their holiday a lot. My Dad liked Melbourne’s iconic building Flinders Street Station in particular, so we asked a stranger to take a photo for us.
Me and my parents are in the centre of the photo with the Flinders Street Station at the background. The weather was very nice and we all had beautiful smiles on our faces.
I definitely love the photo. The main reason is because it’s such a great memory. It reminds me the warm weather and the great mood we had on that day. It’s the best trip that I’ve ever had. Most importantly, the photo lets me feel the love from my parents. It’s definitely a great family photo.

I’m going to describe a happy surprise I had which was my 15th birthday party. it was xx years ago, the last year of my junior high school. In that year I had a very important exam to prepare for and I devoted all my time and energy for study.
A week before my 15th birthday, I asked my parents if I could have a small celebration for the special day. Unfortunately, my parents refused my request because they didn’t want anything to distract me from study. I was a bit disappointed but I didn’t say anything.
On my 15th birthday, I finished school at 8pm and I was a bit sad that no one remembered it was my birthday. When I got home and opened the door, I saw the living room was decorated with lots of colourful balloons. My dad was waiting for me on the side of the door, he handed me a bunch of lily, which was my favourite flower, and he said happy birthday to me. I suddenly realised that my parents lied to me and they secretly organised a party for me. All the family members are invited and they brought me amazing birthday gifts. Mum cooked delecious meal and the party was wonderful.
I definitely felt surprised when I knew there was a party and I didn’t felt angry at all that they lied to me there was not party. I enjoyed the party a lot and it was a great memory. On top of that, the party helped me to relax during the intensive study and cheered me up. It was definitely a great surprise.

I’m going to describe a time that I helped a stranger which happened 3 months ago. It’s such a great experience and I had a sense of fulfilling .
It’s a Friday night that I just finished a great dinner with my friends. While I was walking on the Queen Street in the city, an Asian lady approached me and started to talk to me in Mandarin.
She’s Chinese lady in her 40’s and she looked worried. She told me she could’t find her way to go back to the hotel that she stayed. She didn’t speak any English and that’s her first experience of travelling to overseas.
I googled the hotel’s address on my phone, and told her the direction in Mandarin. I also drew a simple map on a piece of paper to show her the way. She still looked confused. So I decided to walk her back to the hotel, as the hotel is in the city and I had nothing to do on that night.
After 10 minutes walking we arrived at the hotel. The lady thanked me many times and she said she was grateful that she could return the hotel safely. I definitely felt great after I helped the lady. It was a nice walk and we had a nice talk. On top of that I felt happy and joyful, and I had a big smile on my face.

I’m going to describe a lifestyle change I made which is jogging. After almost three months morning exercise I feel much more energetic during my daily life and work and it’s a good way to shape my body.
I started thinking of doing exercise three months ago because I felt tired almost every day back then even in the morning after a good sleep. I was very hard for me to concentrate at work and my patience became short, and I started having at least two cups of coffee daily and eating junk food. However, coffees and junk food could only help me temporarily, I wanted something that can increase my energy level in the long term. I googled solutions and I found lots of people had same problem as me and they recommended that doing early morning exercise can help.
For the first week of my morning exercise plan, I jogged twice during the weekend to give a try, and the result was surprisingly good. I felt much more energetic on the days after jogging and my sleeping quality were definitely improved a lot on those days. Since then I have being doing morning exercise four days a week.
It wasn’t easy for me to wake up 30 minutes earlier in the morning, especially during winter and it’s cold and dark in the morning, sometime I could not maintain my discipline.
This lifestyle change has definitely given me a great energy boost that my mind becomes clear and work efficiency is increased dramatically. There is an amazing physical improvement after I start jogging as well. My tummy become smaller and I can finally fit into the jeans that I used to wear many years ago. These benefits motivate me stick with my healthy lifestyle.

I’m going to describe a change that will improve your local area which is adding more parks in the residential area. It will definitely improve the local’s living quality.
I’m currently living in a Southeast suburb which is Box Hill. It’s a great place to living in where has convenient public transport and close to amazing shops and restaurants. The only thing that I dislike about the area is there is no park near my house for relaxation activities. Without a park, I can only take a walk after dinner on the pavement.
It would be great if there is a garden or park in the neighbourhood within walking distance and have refreshing green plants, so that people who living in the area can have a great place for exercising in the outdoor area, playing with their kids and walking their dogs.
However, it’s very challenging for having more parks in the area. As you know, Box Hill is a crowded and expensive suburb, It’s be hard to find a piece of land that suitable for a park in the area.
Having more parks in the area will certainly make Box Hill a better place to live in. And most importantly, parks provide great places for local residence doing outdoor and physical activities which make local people healthier.

I’m going to describe something I did which was a waste of time. Last week I spent three days watching a Korean drama, it was definitely a waste of time because I didn’t get any benefit from watching it
The Korean drama was called XXX, it was a romance story that an alien fall in love with a human. The drama was recommended by my friend, she watched it and she loved it. I also heard some good feedbacks and review from the internet. Then I decided to watch it when I have time.
Last week after I finished an assignment, I had three days to take a break and relax from the intensive study. I downloaded this 21 episodes drama from the internet.
Once I started watching the drama, I was attracted by the good looking actor in it and could not stop watching it. I spent three days in my room and the only time I walked out my room was for going to toilet. I didn’t cook at all and ordered take away food.
I finally finished the drama within three days, however, I believe it was a waste of time. The main reason is because I didn’t get any benefit from watching the show. I didn’t learn any useful information or knowledge from the how. On top of that, I was supposed to take a good rest during that three days. However, I didn’t feel relaxed because I didn’t eat or sleep well in that three days.

I’m going to describe a time I had a disagreement with my friends which happened last year. I definitely learned a lot from the experience, especially how to work well in a team.
Me and two of my friends Rachel and Richard worked as team to finish a marketing case study. we had a couple of cases that we could choose from. However, me and Rachel had a disagreement on which case we was going to do. I was interested in Coca Cola’s marketing strategy and Rachel wanted to analysis Myer’s.
We had a long discussion in the library, which lasted about an hour. We exchanged our ideas and what were the reasons that we preferred our own ideas. However, we didn’t reach an agreement and both insisted our own cases, so we decided to consult our lecturer for advise.
The professor was very helpful. He listened the opinions from both of us, and agreed that both cases were great. And he suggested that there were more resources that we could find for Coca Cola, however Myer’s case was less complex. At the end we decided to do Myer’s case considering we only had two weeks for doing the case study, and we got a great result for it.
This disagreement definitely improved my communication skills, I also learned that communication is essential for resolving disagreement. On top of that I also learned that we have to compromise sometimes in order to achieve a great result.

I’m going to describe a time I had to get up extremely early in the morning which was last year. It was definitely hard to wake up early.
It was a Monday morning, I had a very important exam on that day. I wanted to go through all the key points again and refresh my memory before I attended the exam.
The exam started at 9am in the morning, I decided to wake up at 5.30, so that I could have 2 and half hours to review all the materials and 1 hour to get myself ready to attend the exam.
5.30 was quite early for me as I normally get up at 7.30. It was extremely hard for me especially during winter. And it was cold and dark when I woke up.
The reason I had to wake up early was because it was such an important exam for me. It was the last exam of my entire university study. If I could pass it then I could successfully graduate and move on to the next stage of my life.
Waking up at 5.30 in the winter morning was definitely a tough thing to do, I had three alarms to wake me up. However, I felt refreshing and energetic whole day, it was certainly worth it.
