Topic: Write a letter to a bank asking for a loan for the small business that your family is running.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I’m writing on behalf of my parents to request a loan from your bank to expand our cheese making business.

My family has been in this business for over 20 years, and we have quite a good reputation in the industry. It is a very profitable business because my parents have created a unique recipe for making cheese, which has a rich and special flavour and better than most types of cheese on the supermarket shelves. Over these years, most of our clients are major supermarkets in Victoria, and this guarantees that our products can sell to a large number of consumers. You can expect that the sale of our cheese is quite stable as well.

However, the last two years have seen a significant growth of our business beyond Victoria. Our robust sale grows significantly since last year, which is a clear evidence of our ability to repay the loan. Orders from both local and overseas companies doubled this year. These companies have expressed

their interest in doing long-term business with us. Thus my parents view this as the optimal timing for expanding our business. With new manufacturing equipment, we expect that our production will be doubled and can efficiently meet large volume of orders in the future. This will largely increase our profits and enable us to repay the loan.

The expansion is our reason to seek for a loan is that our business needs to expand to meet the increasing sales. Specifically, we need to borrow $200,000 to purchase new manufacturing equipment, and we expect that we can repay the money over the period of five years.
